The story of Photographer meets Creeper

Ok. I know. I'm not a Pratt yet, but in 1 month and 23 days I will be, so that's close enough right?

In the meantime, let me begin by explaining what led me to this point of becoming (almost) a Pratt.

It all started out Fall of 2011 at BYU-Idaho in New Testament class in this building:

Garth Pratt walks into class late (go figure) on the first day of school.

Interestingly, as he walks through the door I think in my mind "That's Garth Pratt, the photographer!"

Garth is a photographer. Not just any photographer, but a Rexburg-dance-party-photographer. (Shamefully I admit today that semesters prior to Fall 2011 included my attendance at many, many, dance parties.) Garth had taken my picture at a dance party in Spring semester of 2011, so logically later that night following the dance party, I added him as a friend on facebook to check out the photos of myself he had uploaded. I didn't know him at all other than from that encounter.

The semester in New Testament continues on as I don't take much notice to the dance party photographer who was frequently tardy to class.

In the meantime, I began having a sort of fascination with those students- you know which ones I'm talking about, the ones that somehow manage to catch up on some ZZZ's literally anywhere. Thus, the beginning of the facebook album "People K'd" (people knocked out) is launched which captures the attentiveness of college students in class and around campus.

Some of my all time favorites:

(dreaming of world domination)                ("the anywhere bed")                     (classic class cat nap)

Well it just so happens that one day in December sleepy, innocent New Testament Garth becomes my next victim. Like all 120 of my victims prior, I sneakily take the photo with my phone and upload it immediately to facebook. However, I make a crucial error in doing this; Garth is my facebook friend!

Days later I see that Garth has realized that an innocent cat-nap in New Testament class has made facebook news as he comments,

"HEY WHY DID I JUST NOW FIND OUT ABOUT THIS!!?"

Luckily for me, the semester of Fall 2011 ends just before I have to face him in class after this unfortunate instance where my cover was blown...

But then...
two weeks later fate brings us together once again in Winter semester of 2012. This time we don't have one class together, but two.

I walk into my Intro to Comms class on January 5th, 2012 and there he is, this time awake, sitting on the very front row. I consider ignoring him and walking to the back where I normally sit, but decide I should see what this Garth guy is all about.

Keep in mind, we have never had a conversation before.
(I know him as the new testament sleeper, and he knows me as the creep who took his picture and posted it on facebook.)

Considering what could have potentially been an awkward 50 minutes of class,

I'd say it must have gone pretty well taking into account where we are now:

(engaged! And here is how he did it!)

And after a quick scan of Pratt's in Pictures' first blog post you get the idea of what this blog is going to be about. I don't expect that you read the whole post to get to this point but if you did, love it or hate it, read it or don't, this is the life and story of
Garth and Kim.
